THUNDER RUN'S SIR IVANHOE and
myself at age 16, year 1980
Thank you for the interest in our herd. My name is Shannan and I have had dairy goats since 1977. I became a youth member of the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) in 1980. I am currently a life member. I purchased my first saanen from the Thunder Run herd of Saanens in Kalispell Montana in 1980 which started my love of saanens and a life long friendship with Pat Scroggs the owner of the Thunder Run herd.
My first sable was born 1995. In 2003 with constant urging and help from Kliss Foster I started my wonderful Sable herd. In 2004 Ron Beatty joined the team.
We are very proud of our girls so we are constantly striving to breed the "best" by concentrating on developing consistency in the show ring and the milk pail. Our goal is to breed animals that improve with age and live long and very productive lives.

HERD HEALTH- Our herd overall is in excellent health. They are CL free and we have a CAE preventive program , testing annually just before kidding. Our animals receive CD&T anually are treated for coccidia and worms routinely. They are fed free choice alfalfa and grass hay, sodium bicarb, salt with vitamins and minerals added . We are on continuous DHIA test and when finances allow have the herd appraised
Bucks are kept only out of quality dams. Conformation, strength of mammary and milkability are very important qualities, therefore the dam must meet these requirements. In some cases a buck will be sold out of a yearling provided she meets our strict standards. I will only sell kids that I feel are of good quality and in my opinion, are structurally sound. Show quality milkers as well as dairy replacement animals are available each spring. Contact us for availability. Please feel free to phone or email if you have any questions about a particular animal. We will be happy to share both the strong and weak points of any animal with you so that you can choose one that will compliment your own herd. |
We were able to make it to the 2015 ADGA Nationals and our Sables did quite well
